Diversity & Inclusion at Work

Our diversity strategy has been developed to attract, retain, and develop a workforce filled with associates from a variety of backgrounds and enable them to reach their full potential. Also, we engage our associates in order to ensure a more positive and inclusive work environment while monitoring our performance in order to leverage diversity and inclusion and improve our bottom line.

Associate Resource Groups
Associate Resource Groups are built around a common characteristic or interest which enhances associate engagement. These groups provide opportunities for networking and help to generate a diverse and inclusive workplace environment. For Compass Group, associate resource groups are valuable recruiting and retention tools that drive loyalty and increases performance.

Women’s Leadership Network (WLN)
WLN’s mission is to advance Compass Group’s ability to attract, develop, and retain women at all levels by providing real opportunities to learn and grow, creating a competitive advantage and making a positive impact in our industry. Currently, the WLN has over 3,500 members in 18 active regional chapters.

Diversity Action Councils
Compass Group recognizes that our clients and customers have different needs and expectations, which is why we created independent companies, called sectors. Each sector has unique identities and marketing strategies.

Sector Diversity Action Councils were created to offer strategic thinking, planning and assessment, and to ensure diversity & inclusion is addresses in ways that allow our organization to achieve and sustain a competitive advantage. Currently, there are nine diversity action councils throughout the organization with over 60 members, including the North American Diversity Action Council

North American Diversity Action Council
The North American Diversity Action Council (NADAC) integrates our diversity process throughout the entire organization by:
• Serving as the liaison between the sector councils and advisors to the senior leaders of Compass Group North America.
• Ensuring that all of Compass Group’s stakeholders are represented and benefit from a diverse and inclusive environment.
• Facilitating events to increase diversity and inclusion awareness and associate engagement.

Education and Training
From the beginning of their career at Compass Group, all associates learn about the different dimensions of diversity and inclusion in order to raise awareness and to help foster a positive work environment. All managers learn how to bring inclusion to life in the workplace and how an inclusive environment is critical to our organizational strength and competitiveness.

Associate Recognition
Be-A-Star
Each year, the Be-A-Star program recognizes the outstanding accomplishments of Compass Group associates and teams that achieve their sectors' business objectives and deliver great results. This program provides a consistent platform that allows all of our sectors to communicate and complete the business objectives for each fiscal year.

President’s Five Jewel Award for Best Practices in Diversity & Inclusion
One important component of our Be-A-Star program is the President's Five Jewel Award for Best Practices in Diversity & Inclusion. Outstanding teams and units are recognized as sector winners for their passion for diversity and inclusion, community service and professional development, and are then eligible to compete for recognition at the national level.
