Fort Lee, NJ, May 31, 2012 -- Chartwells School Dining Services, a major provider of dining services for over 550 public school districts and private schools nationwide, recently hosted an Academic Awards and Scholarship Dinner. A total of $10,000 in scholarships, bestowed by Chartwells, was divided among 15 students with grade point averages of 3.5 or higher. The scholarship program has already donated $45,000 to date. The Academic Awards Dinner took place on May 15th at The Fiesta in Wood – Ridge, NJ.
Chartwells was joined by over 30 additional representatives from memorial funds, corporate donors, and school associations that also presented awards. Department of Recreation Supervisor Cheryl Westeyn was inducted into the Fort Lee High School Academic Hall of Fame in recognition for her academic achievement and a lifetime of dedication to the community of Fort Lee. The Scott Vasel Memorial Scholarship fund was established in the Scott’s memory after he was lost on 9-11. Chartwells counted on the support of teachers, staff and students who donated money for this scholarship.
“Once again the Fort Lee High School Academic and Service Awards Banquet was a huge success, with scholarships awarded to 80 deserving students,” said Fort Lee High School Principal Priscilla Church. “Thank you Chartwells for all that you do to support our school. This would not have happened without your generosity and commitment to the students of Fort Lee High School.”
“I look forward to attending this event each spring,” said Scott Kallensee, Chartwells Director of Dining Services. “It is exciting to hear the prestigious colleges and universities our students have been accepted by and whose future has been touched by these scholarships.”
