Celebrating Black History Month 2025: Tina Sallis

February 21, 2025

Compass Group is honored to spotlight Tina Sallis, a dedicated associate with TouchPoint Support Services, as part of our Black History Month celebration. Her story reflects the resilience and contributions of countless African Americans who have shaped and strengthened our workforce through determination and hard work.

Tina grew up in Gary, Indiana, under the care of her remarkable mother, who raised her children singlehandedly after Tina’s father passed away when she was just three years old. From an early age, Tina learned the value of perseverance, responsibility, and faith—values that have guided her throughout her life.

“I was tired of being on welfare,” Tina shares, “and I resolved to turn my life around.” When a housekeeping position became available, she seized the opportunity and simultaneously worked as a crossing guard to support her family. These roles became her foundation for achieving financial independence, and her hard work paid off—literally. She was able to purchase her first brand-new car straight from the dealership, a moment that symbolized her determination and success.

Since joining TouchPoint in November 2014, Tina has not missed a single day of work. As a housekeeper, she takes pride in encouraging patients and making a difference in their lives. Her personal journey with kidney failure and weekly dialysis treatments has deepened her understanding of the importance of compassion and human connection in healthcare.

“My mother taught us to pay our bills on time, focus on our responsibilities, and never let challenges define us,” Tina says. These lessons shaped her approach to life and work, inspiring her to share her story of buying her first home to motivate others.

Through her contributions, Tina exemplifies the strength and dedication of African Americans who have long played a vital role in shaping the labor force. Her unwavering faith and resilience continue to impact not only her patients but also her colleagues and community.

As Tina reflects on her journey, she credits her faith as the cornerstone of her resilience. “I thank God for everything and put Him in everything I do,” she says.

Tina’s story is filled with the spirit of perseverance, the value of hard work, and the transformative power of faith. Her journey reminds us that each of us has the potential to inspire and uplift others.
